Our goals as a record label:
Our motto "Acta non Verba" can be translated as "Do, not talk". Jacarandá Music is a record label that emerged from the idea of recording unique and high-quality music, making the recordings available for free. Employing new immersive audio techniques, we combine classic and esteemed equipment with the most modern in High End audio. We believe that musical and technical knowledge go hand in hand to bring the best experience to the most demanding ears.
How does it work?
Our composers, musicians, or groups are handpicked and invited to record for free in our studio. The repertoire must be original, or of works in the public domain, and the recording should be done in 1 or 2 days, live, without edits. Music as it is. Our curation focus revolves around Jazz, Brazilian Music, and Classical repertoire. If you want to introduce us to your work, please get in touch.
Artist
Record your album or singles for free.
We take care of the entire recording, mixing, and mastering process. The composer or group is responsible for the musicians and any hires/fees.
All musicians are duly credited.
Giving proper credit is essential. Whenever there is space, musicians and composers must be credited on platforms, as well as the sound engineering team.
Have the repertoire at hand.
After receiving the recording invitation, we will try to fit your recording into our studio’s busy schedule. It is important that the songs and musicians are ready to record as soon as an opportunity arises.
Explore the recording commercially.
The artist(s) are free to commercially exploit the recordings. They are allowed to sell albums, make music videos, sell concerts using the material, etc. If the artist sells albums on their own, there is no need to pass any money to the Record Label. Similarly, if the record label decides to commercially exploit the album, no money has to be passed on to the artist(s). In other words, each can freely exploit the recorded material, with no dues owed.
Record Label
Recording, Mixing, and Mastering.
The recordings are made with high-end equipment, using traditional and also immersive audio techniques. The choices of recording and mixing are at our discretion, but the opinions and suggestions of the artists are welcome.
Project selection.
Musicians/composers are invited by us. Recordings are carried out when the studio is available. Therefore, we give preference to repertoires that can be recorded live, without edits, respecting the natural performance. The group must be flexible in case of recordings scheduled on short notice or date changes. As we have a limited amount of free session time per month, a limited number of albums or singles can be released each month.
Streaming platforms.
The recorded music will be distributed on Jacarandá Music’s streaming platforms, linking the phonograms to your account, so that the production appears on both profiles.
Format of the recordings
Our recordings must be made at a sample rate of 96kHz or higher, and besides the stereo mix, there may be a version in 5.1 Surround or Atmos/MPEG-H. A Binaural version using a Jecklin Disk is also possible. The files are available on streaming platforms and also for free on our website. In the future, a system of voluntary donations or subscription may be implemented.
ADVANCED TECHNIQUES
Immersive Audio
The production of immersive audio in 7.1.4, 360 Reality Audio, and Dolby Atmos is done through innovative techniques. We use our own methodology to capture 360º audio, inspired by the OCT 2 techniques of Günther Theile (Institut für Rundfunktechnik), Dr. Helmut Wittek (Schoeps), 2L Cube by Morten Lindberg, and INA5 (Ideal Cardioid Arrangement) by Herrmann/Henkels, based on the “Williams localization curves”.
We use a minimum of 16 microphones for spatial capture, 7 microphones on the horizontal plane, 4 microphones for the vertical plane, 3 for an OCT-2 setup, and 2 for distant reverberation. Different spots are used as needed.
